Darling Magazine is a local free magazine for Women in Wimbledon. Karine Torr, the magazine's founder and editor, attended a Creating Your Website workshop given by Charlie Apple, and so began the collaboration. Karine had a "home made" website, which was very problematic to update. She was unsure about the value a new website would bring to her business, after all, it is a publication. After attending the workshop, Karine was inspired to build a brand new website for darling magazine.  “I had a website of sorts, but it was not reflective of the darling brand.  To be honest, at that point I hadn’t really seen the benefits that a new website would bring to my business until I went to the workshop.”

Over the next few months, Karine worked closely with Charlie Apple perfecting the ‘darling’ brand to take her business to the next level.  Darlingmagazine.co.uk was launched and has had a great impact on the way the business operates.  A new revenue stream was created in online advertising as well as offering print advertisers added value through the website.  Also new for the site are email subscription to a newsletter to attract subsribers; online copy of the magazine which can also be downloaded in PDF, an animated gallery of "social scene" pictures which also allows many more to be included than in the printed version; paid subscription to the magazine for overseas and out of delivery area; set-upThe site allows me to communicate with my readers and my advertisers in a completely new way and I’m using social networking which links directly to my site and keeps it fresh and personal on a daily basis.”

“The next step for darling” added Karine, “is that we are about to launch paid subscriptions to the magazine as we have built up a fan base of people who don’t live in the area so don’t get a free copy.  We’ve actually built up little followings all over the world so we will now be able to supply to those people through the website.”
